Aweigh: The moment a ship's anchor leaves the sea bottom, the anchor is said to be aweigh. "Weigh" from the Old English infers movement. Anchors "away" is incorrect usage. But when a ship weighs anchor it is said to be under way even though it may or may not be making way (powered).
I am the proud wife of a United States Navy Sailor... about to embark on one of my biggest challenges to date... an 8 month deployment. I have grown accustomed to my husband being gone, but never this long....
I have a million thoughts running through my mind and a million emotions running through my heart... but mostly I just want to start the clock and reach the end!
