Military Care Package Idea

I'm long over due for a post and I am far behind on my weekly updates!

My little man started t-ball and it has kept us pretty busy on top of me finally joining a gym!

With that said... I wanted to share the last package I sent my Sailor...

My favorite past time, google, led me to a website with ideas for military care packages. One website suggested themed boxes, which I thought was such a cute idea... so, after my Sailor requested protein powder I decided to go with a "health" theme!

I cut the card in the shape of a dumbbell and it reads...

"To our dearest Dumbbell,
A little something just for the health of it!
Love Always,
Your Down B & The Mini's"

Contents:
socks
protein powder
sunflower seeds
DVD
gatorade sports bottle
gatorade drink mix
gatorade fuel shots
nuts
almonds
applesauce to go
deodorant
5 hour energy shots
misc. power/energy bars
power bar protein bites

I also included the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition...

but didn't want those pretty girls to distract my man from the only pretty girl he needs to be looking at...

Thank you modge podge!

That of course is a picture of a body I haven't seen in a few years... but hopefully this new gym membership will make sure that body is waiting for my Sailor at the pier!

My new bee eff eff eff's!!

I would like you to meet my two new best friends...

Seriously... these two products are

Ahhhh-maze-ing!!

I bought the counter cleaner at Walmart because I was out of my Method (from Target) cleaner at home and I try to stick to natural cleaning products (at least in the kitchen-baby steps)... this was all I could find for natural cleaners at Walmart....

I almost didn't get it either because I didn't think I liked the smell...

but OMG I am now obsessed with the smell!! It is the cleanest freshest smell and it is so fragrant (without being over powering) and I swear to you, just wiping your kitchen counters will leave your whole house smelling fresh... upstairs and downstairs!!

I actually get excited to clean my kitchen now!

Not to mention, it is hard to find good cleaners for granite, the Method cleaner I had before actually didn't do a very good job. It would leave a residue that I would have to re-wipe with a granite cleaner... this Meyer's cleaner leaves the granite sparkly and clean!

The Dryel on the go stick was another one that I just happened to grab while trying to find something to remove Blue ICEE splatters from the roof of my car!

It literally works like magic!!

Anything or Anyone that makes my life easier... is a friend of mine!

I just wanted to also thank my followers/readers.... I know I am not a very faithful poster (which I hope to improve upon), but I can't tell you how much it means to me to read your comments or how excited I feel when I see a new follower!!

THANK YOU!!

I ♥ Pennants

This year when I pulled out our Easter decor, I decided that I didn't like any of it anymore.

So I tried to think of something inexpensive I could make to decorate for Easter/Spring!

I have seen a lot of pennant banners on several blogs and with some...

 extra burlap
twine
mini clothes pins (craft section of Walmart)
stencils (craft section of Walmart)
paint

I decided to make one of my own.

I didn't have a rotary cutter so my pennants are not perfect, which I must admit does kind of bother the perfectionist in me, but I think it came out pretty darn cute and cost next to nothing!

My little topiary is missing it's planter... keep hoping I will find the matching one somewhere!!

What are you waiting for?? Go make one!!

Join us Saturdays at tatertotsandjello.com for the weekend wrap
 up party!

Week 8

While I can't say that life has gotten any easier without you...

the second month has been easier than the first!

5 more months to go...

This week, we went to Pump it Up with the MOM's group...

Sat in the sun and had some "dome" crackers (as brother calls them)...

Someone got BUSTED!!

Sissy did lot's of standing on her own and took 5 steps this week, but still isn't officially walking...

...and finally, this week marks the end of breast feeding!!

Hallelujah! Praise the LORD!

We miss you Sailor!!

XOXO

Feel Good Today

This morning the fog cleared and the sun finally came out again...

Hello sun.

This inspired me to clear the laundry off my treadclimber,
and armed with a new playlist...

I worked that thing like it was my job!!

One thing led to another, and 30 minutes later, I had a new lease on life...

Why is it so hard to make myself exercise when it leaves me feeling this good?

Here is to hopefully a new addition in my everyday routine!

I hope this post finds you well
and inspires you to allow yourself to feel GOOD today!

The playlist:

"Dear Maria, Count Me In" All Time Low

"You Oughtta Know" Alanis Morissette

"All the Small Things" Blink 182

"The Ghost Inside" Broken Bells

"One of THOSE Nights" The Cab

"She's a Rebel" Green Day

"Hollaback Girl" Gwen Stefani

"Naked Eye" Luscious Jackson

"Telephone" Lady Gaga

[30.7 minutes]

Tar-jaaay!

One of the benefits to your husband being gone....

you can shop at Target every single day if you darn well feel like it.

On one of my many recent trips, I discovered these cute little plant markers in the $1 SPOT.

Hollaaaa!

I knew they would make a cute little addition to the little pots of rosemary on my kitchen table...

I pretty much pick up a new pack every time I'm there...

I'm sort of obsessed!

...but wouldn't these make cute gifts too???

You could put them in a cute little pot with a packet of seeds or something??

Just sayin!

Switch Witchery

Clearly I have kept up with CNN much better than this blog, but that's not to say I haven't kept myself and my mind busy with a few home decorating/craft projects...

When I saw this tutorial, I was skeptical that I could ever re create something that looked that good, but knew that striped curtain panels would look perfect in my son's nautical/pirate room.

So, I picked up two packs of plain curtain panels (navy & white), switch witchery hemming tape, and gross grain ribbon and held my breath while I cut and ironed away...

I'm not gonna lie, there were a couple of times I wanted to throw in the towel, but I stuck with it and low and behold, I think they turned out pretty darn
F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!

Now, I will be the first to point out all the imperfections (I'm pretty sure the stripes at the top might be a little thinner than the stripes at the bottom and clearly I should not quit my day job to pursue a career in professional ironing),

but I am still very pleased with how they turned out!!
