Build A Bear

So... I had this great little idea (as I often do...just sayin) to take the kids to Build A Bear before the Sailor/Daddy leaves and let them build a bear that had his voice recorded into it. We had never been there before and we were actually really impressed with how fun it was, even the Sailor got all into it... and he was no less of a man afterwards for enjoying it! Imagine that!

Take one...

Take two...

Take three....

Ah, forget it!

Piggies & Paws

Well, today I tackled one little craft project...

Wall art for the play nook.

I wanted to share them because I thought they turned out pretty darn cute!

I got the idea here.

Busy Work

While my sailor is on his last underway before the big deployment, I need to find a way to keep myself busy and help the time pass... I guess I should could try to finish up the 10 million  few projects around the house that have been staring at me, half finished, like a ghost for months....

I've never considered myself impulsive, but the walls of my house would say otherwise....

I decided I hated the wall color downstairs, so I bought a new gallon of paint and pajamas good clothes and all, started painting...

Not even to mention the half caulked, primed, un-sanded chair rail below (this was my first attempt at chair rail/moulding project... please don't judge!)

The chair rail project has sat this way since Septemberish (wow, that hurts to admit) and the walls have been half painted since beginning of December.

Keeping within the same vicinity of the house... brings us to the rest of the new paint job, the living room! Just before Christmas I gutted removed almost all accessories, because I decided I hated was done with warm colors, especially the color red... too bad I had just spent $400ish in March on the area rug and runner (from Target), that my husband hated but decided to trust me when I said it would look sooo good in the living room with our decor. Well, in my defense, it did look good in the living room with our decor... how could I have ever known that in 6 months or so I would decide I hated our living room decor. The point of all this is... I'm stuck with the rug! So my wheels have been spinning, trying to figure out how we can all figure out a way to coincide with this rug... lucky for my husband, he won't have to live with it for the next 8 months, hopefully a solution comes before then...

I'm not too thrilled with the curtains either, but again, they cost about $200ish all together and I'm going to have to learn to love them... for now.

Moving upstairs and keeping with the theme of half finished projects, I bring you into my sons room. My husband and I fell in love with and purchased the bedroom set before he was even ready for a "big boy" bed. I still love the set, but I think it's obvious that I never even considered that our next child could be a girl (which she was). I think it would have been more practical to of had a single bed in here for guests, but this bedroom set wasn't cheap either (and I do like it), so I decided to start painting and decorating a nautical/pirate themed room before my son left for college. I got to the second wall and realized the stripes were all jacked up! I tried to roll with it, but by the third wall they were really jacked up and I got frustrated and gave up took a break... that was November, this is now...

Don't mind the huge  actually not that bad of a mess, comparatively speaking... just keepin' it real!

I am now thinking that it would be more practical to move my daughter into this room since she never sleeps in her room is in a crib now and her "big girl" room has the potential to become a nice guest room, since we could purchase a bedroom set with that in mind and it is closest to our spare bathroom. My husband is going to kill me!!

The last half completed project in the house is the play nook. Our upstairs hallway has a little nook that we were originally using as a home office until I came up with the brilliant idea (the only kind I have) to turn it into a place where I can trap the kids the kids can safely play while I  read blogs, use the bathroom, make dinner, put away/start laundry, empty the dishwasher... you catch my drift...

This room is the closest to being complete, but I would like to get some more little accessories/wall hangings and add some cuter better organizational baskets/etc. before calling it finished.

Well, as you can see, I am in no shortage of ways to keep busy. So why do I always catch myself doing nothing productive and missing him...

Hopefully this post will hold me accountable and motivate me to finish and share the end result.

While my sailors aweigh...

AweighThe moment a ship's anchor leaves the sea bottom, the anchor is said to be aweigh. "Weigh" from the Old English infers movement. Anchors "away" is incorrect usage. But when a ship weighs anchor it is said to be under way even though it may or may not be making way (powered).

I am the proud wife of a United States Navy Sailor... about to embark on one of my biggest challenges to date... an 8 month deployment. I have grown accustomed to my husband being gone, but never this long....

I have a million thoughts running through my mind and a million emotions running through my heart... but mostly I just want to start the clock and reach the end!
